Mulch Dye FAQs

Leave Blank

How long does dyed mulch last?

Mulch maintains its color for one to two seasons, depending on the amount of direct sunlight.

Does dyed mulch need more maintenance than raw mulch?

No. Every four to six months, rake the mulch to refresh the bed and provide aeration for plants. Then, reapply a couple inches annually.

Are there any benefits for my backyard?

In addition to the aesthetic appeal, colored mulch can be applied around plants and trees to help prevent weed growth and retain moisture.

Will the color wash off in the rain?

During the drying process, the colorant bonds to the mulch so it won’t wash off. Try to install the mulch when there’s no rain in the forecast for 24 hours. That way, the drying process has time to complete once the mulch is spread.

How much mulch do I need?

  • 1 Cubic Yard = 13.5 bags
  • This will cover approximately 100 sq. ft. at 3” deep
  • If you have dimensions for your project, you can enter them into our calculator to get the most accurate estimate for how much product you will need.

Is the dyed mulch safe for pets and plants?

Yes!

  • Our colorant uses naturally sourced ingredients specifically formulated to protect plants, pets and even the planet.
  • Non-toxic, non-reactive, non-flammable, environmentally friendly
  • Tested to the same safety standards as cosmetics
  • No VOCs: EPA Method 8260B was used to screen for 46 volatile organic compounds that can be harmful or toxic to people, plants and animals. Zero out of those 46 VOCs were detected in our colorant.
  • Rated in the lowest level of toxicity possible (Category IV), meaning it’s less toxic than table salt
